An Interview and Spring Snow

by Tammy on April 6, 2018

I made it home safely and went back to work yesterday. I work today as well and then I have one more work day scheduled for next Friday. That will probably be my last because we are now three weeks away from moving day. I have a feeling the next three weeks will go fast and slow at the same time; fast because I have a lot to do and slow because I’m so looking forward to being back down South. It is hard being away from April. I talk to her every day either via FaceTime or text, but actually being with her was the best! I miss her a lot.

While I was in Orange Beach I pulled up Columbia Southern’s website and looked at the job listings. There was one for a Writing Support Specialist, or basically, a writing tutor. I read the description and it fit me to a “T”, so I impulsively sent an application. I didn’t have my resume on my new computer so I uploaded a document saying that I would send it if they wanted it. Before I even got home the HR recruiter emailed Dan telling him how excited she was to see my application and to remind me to send it, so when I got home I doctored it up and sent it off. At 8:00 the next morning I got an email from her saying that she had forwarded my application on to the department and a few hours later the manager called me to schedule an interview. I know her from working there ten years ago and I am so encouraged by how excited she is. The job listing was already gone the next time I looked, so I really believe that as long as I don’t totally botch the interview, the job is mine. I had sort of mixed emotions about going back to work full time and I wasn’t seriously considering going back to work at CSU, but if I don’t get this job now, I will be extremely disappointed. Not only will a little extra income be nice right now with buying a new house and having car and camper loans (plus future student loans), but I will see April every day at work. The hours are standard Monday through Friday and the starting pay is decent, too. So if you think of me on Monday morning around 10:00 CST, please say a little prayer that all goes well. It will be a Skype interview which is a bit unnerving, but I’m sure I’ll get through it.

There is snow in the area this morning. It hasn’t started here yet and I pray it waits until I get to work, but even so, it won’t amount to much. Earlier this week they were calling for 2-3 inches but now they are saying less than an inch for our area. I would be totally happy with none seeing as it is April 6th and I am so over winter already. After record or near record lows tonight and a cold weekend, we are supposed to warm up into the 50s and 60s next week, so just a few more days of the goofiness to get through.

Well, time to get ready for work. Have a very blessed weekend and wish me luck as I start to pack nonessential items this weekend.
